NFL Lockout's Impact On The Dallas Cowboys

Like Minnesota did with Frazier, Dallas made the right choice by making interim head coach Jason Garrett their full-time head coach. As bad as the Cowboys were last year, I expect them to be much better this year. Quarterback Tony Romo will be back from a broken collarbone and they added Rob Ryan as their defensive coordinator. Ryan plans to keep the same 3-4 defensive scheme, which means the defense won't be impacted. The biggest issue for the Cowboys appears to be the offensive line and defensive backfield. They will be able to target both areas in the draft. The Cowboys should be poised for a good run this season.

Dallas Cowboys reportedly ready to cut ties with Marion Barber III

After a lackluster and injury-plagued season, it appears Marion Barber III is on his way out in Dallas. According to the website, National Football Authority, the Cowboys are ready to release the sixth-year running back, and it could happen soon.

Barber's production has decreased over the past couple of seasons and in 2010 he rushed for just 343 yards and 4 touchdowns. Barber, who turns 28 in June, signed a seven-year deal worth $45 million in 2008. Barber is set to make $5 million dollars in 2011.

With Felix Jones and Tashard Choice already in Dallas' backfield, cutting ties with Barber (and his salary) makes sense for the Cowboys.

2011 Fantasy Football Scouting Report: Tony Romo, QB, Dallas Cowboys

2010 Stats (6 gms)
1605 yds.
  11 TDs
     7 INTs
2011 Projected
4315 yds.
  26 TDs
     15 INTs

Romo returns from a broken collarbone that ended his season early last year. He will be throwing to a great group of receivers that includes Miles Austin, Dez Bryant, Jason Whitten and possibly Roy Williams. New head coach Jason Garrett will bring discipline to the Cowboys, which will make them much improved in 2011. The Cowboys lack a running game, which will help Romo's fantasy football statistics. If he can stay healthy, look for Romo to have a solid season.
