NFL Lockout's Impact On The Miami Dolphins

Miami Dolphins: Head coach Tony Sparano did a fairly good job last year without much talent on offense. The Dolphins really needed this off season to evaluate quarterback Chad Henne. They have to decide whether or not he's their long-term solution at quarterback. By most indications, Henne is a lame duck quarterback, barring a huge improvement this season. The Dolphins will need to address it's running back situation with both Ricky Williams and Ronnie Brown becoming free agents once a CBA is reached. Considering how poorly the Dolphins quarterback play has been, developing a running back will be important this off season. I expect more struggles from the already sagging Miami offense. Miami's defense should weather the lockout fairly well.

Miami Dolphins eyeing Cam Newton in NFL Draft?

He's one of the best sports-rumors-guys in the business, and he's got a hot tip about Cam Newton. According to Incarcerated Bob (yes, that's his moniker), the Miami Dolphins are very interested in trading up to get Auburn quarterback Cam Newton.

The Dolphins currently have the #15 pick and while Newton stumbled a bit at the NFL Scouting Combine, no one believes Newton will slide that far in the draft.

If Incarcerated Bob is correct about the Fins intentions, Newton will be taking his talents to South Beach.

Miami Dolphins place franchise tag on Paul Soliai

The Miami Dolphins gave defensive lineman Paul Soliai a huge pay raise today by placing the franchise tag on him. The team had been working on long-term deal but hadn't made enough progress, which led to the franchise tag.

Soliai, who turns 28 in December, will now make more than $12 million for 2011. That's quite a raise considering he made only $467,000 last season.

Henne will get one more shot to prove he's a starting NFL quarterback. He did nothing to help himself last year, despite the addition of wide receiver Brandon Marshall in Miami. Henne has a tendency to play too safe and the Dolphins offense suffered because of it. Henne needs to become less of a game manager and more of risk-taker before he's worth a fantasy football roster spot.
