Welker remains an important part of the New England offense, but don't him to put the same gaudy numbers we're used to seeing from him. Last season was Welker's worst statistical season since joining the Patriots in 2007. Welker managed just 86 catches (he averaged 115 the previous three seasons) and just 848 yards (he averaged 1229 yards the previous three seasons). Welker did manage to score seven touchdowns, which was more than he scored the previous two seasons. Welker will benefit from the arrival of Chad Ochocinco and should be able to get more open looks on his underneath routes. Welker just turned 30 and he's entering a contract year, both should be motivation enough prove he can still perform at a high level. Consider Welker a number two fantasy football wide receiver.
