If Jones is ever going to emerge as the Cowboys feature running back, this year is his best chance. Rumors are that Marion Barber III may be out in Dallas leaving Jones, Tashard Choice and rookie Demarco Murray to carry the load. Jones has the most experience of the three and could be in line for more carries. Dallas was pass-heavy last season and Jones' numbers suffered. While he finished the season with over 1,200 total yards, only 800 of those yards came on the ground. Also, Jones rarely was called upon in the red zone, accounting for just two touchdowns (1 rushing, 1 receiving) last year. The good news for Jones heading into 2011, the Cowboys featured him more prominently in their offense last season once Jason Garrett replaced fired head coach Wade Phillips. With Garrett now the head coach, look for that trend to continue into this season.
