Woodhead became the Patriots third-down running back after Kevin Faulk injured his knee. Woodhead filled that role nicely finishing the season with over 900 total yards and six touchdowns (5 rushing, 1 receiving). While Woodhead was a solid fill-in for Faulk, his role with the Patriots is up in the air after New England drafted Shave Vereen in the second round of the 2011 NFL Draft. Vereen will likely steal carries and catches from Woodhead, especially on third down. Consider Woodhead a reserve or bye week fill-in running back.
